The True Price of Success

Standing in the gale-force winds, the kid was looking queasy. We could all see the storm was growing more intense.

The rain had already plastered his hair to his forehead and his new black suit was starting to cling to him in ways Mr. Armani never intended.

A typhoon was coming -- the seventh this summer to hit Japan -- and the kid's job, as newest employee, was to stand in front of a TV camera while the weather buffeted him about for the nation to watch. Sort of a talking weather vane.

I take my exercise along that stretch of beach every day, and today one of the most powerful typhoons on record would soon be upon us. I knew I couldn't stay too long, or I'd be caught in the wind and the torrential downpour. I'd make my walk extra-brief this day.

But the television crew had a different assignment.

They, and many other crews like them, are dispatched in satellite equipped trucks to many well-known sites all over Japan. These crews provide live reports on the progress of the storms as they rip their way up the Japanese archipelago.

And the kid in the black suit was their sacrificial lamb today. It was his job to get out there, once the storm reached its peak, and do a show and tell. That's what the people huddled at home want to see, and sponsors will pay well to bring them exactly what they expect.

If you've watched a lot of news over the years, you'll know that the greater the devastation, the higher the viewer ratings. That's the way it works -- more destruction means more interest.

In fact, you may recall that Dan Rather got his big break into national news by doing exactly what this kid was doing -- standing stubbornly in a raging hurricane and giving moment-by-moment reports to the viewers at home.

The networks find it's profitable programming to report on all the destruction, disruption and deaths.

But before we get off on an "Ain't-It-Awful" tangent, let me say right here that this scene I've just described carries one of the richest lessons you'll ever gain.

Typhoons and hurricanes cause huge disruptions. Your humanitarian heart empathizes with those caught up in the tragedies; aches for them; wants to reach out with succor and aid.

And I do applaud that urge to give comfort and help to those that life dumps on. The feelings are normal and proper.

But I suggest that sympathy alone, no matter how heartfelt, is a one-dimensional (even a poverty-ridden) way to respond to the world.

Sympathy can be a good thing, but often it's only a cheap imitation of caring. If it doesn't lead to action, it's basically worthless for anything but show.

However, it's possible to add a second layer of responses, a layer that involves going out and interacting with that world you're so empathic with.

Furthermore, since you've been seeking some way to gain wealth, let me say this. You've just found it.

It's called action.

Action -- appropriate action in response to the problems and tragedies you see around you can make you not only a better person, but a very rich one as well. It can allow you to provide far greater aid to those in need than you could ever accomplish with an aching heart alone.

And the profits from your actions will help you stay in business long-term so you can continue helping your fellowman.

Now, you may already be running a business. If so, you're providing people with some kind of solution to their problems. Are you being well paid for your solutions?

If so, that's good.

But if you're not being well rewarded for your efforts, there are only three possible reasons.

1. You're not telling enough people about yourself.

2. You're not very convincing because you don't believe you're very good at what you do.

3. You may not be solving problems that are big or urgent enough. This is probably the most common limit.

The biggest need today is for people who will do what you and I can't (or won't) do for ourselves. This includes people who make us feel better.

Consider the relative public value of a heart surgeon versus a sales clerk. A captivating entertainer or sports figure versus an office cleaner. A brilliant attorney versus a typist.

It's not my intention to demean anybody who is fulfilling any useful role in society. But the smaller paydays almost always go to the person who is more easily replaced. If nearly anybody can be quickly trained to do the job, there's lots of competition for that slot, and so the price goes down.

And the high-profile jobs like brain surgeon, trial lawyer, pro ball player, or CEO of a multinational -- well, most people won't ever try for those spots, meaning there's less competition. So the people who do try for these jobs can charge whatever the traffic will bear.

This is basic economics, right? We already know all of this. But if we already know it, why do we so seldom apply it to our own life? Why aren't we qualifying ourselves for the absolute top spot in our respective industries?

In many cases, it's because we unthinkingly shy away from "responsibility." We're scared of a bigger role... a higher profile. We keep ourselves small because... well... we just do, that's all. For example, can you tell me exactly why you're not the top authority in your industry? Can I tell why I'm not?

We do know the answer to that, though, don't we?

It's basically cowardice. We're scared spitless of making ourselves uncomfortable through doing things that we're not sure we can do perfectly. If we tried something big and super-ambitious, oh my goodness, what if we didn't do it very well?

We don't like to take chances. Don't enjoy big measures of ambiguity in the things we do. So instead, we plod along like cows coming in from the pasture at evening, regular as clockwork, utterly predictable -- and dependant upon whomever feeds us at the end of the day.

Cows don't take big chances. Neither do sheep. They stay close to the same territory day after day, year after year, clustered together, acting just alike, grazing placidly, never having any grand adventures. There are few opportunities in the fenced-in pasture. Just eat and sleep and grow old.

Ah, but the venturing soul slips through the fence, goes into unknown territory, and seeks out new things to do. Among us humans, we admire most the men and women who push past the barriers to new territory. Record-setting athletes. Inventive new artists and writers. Bold leaders who set new directions and escort the rest of us into new fields. Explorers in medicine, literature, flight, business, sports.

People who go out seeking new places to find, new levels to achieve, new problems to solve.

If you want your income and your life to expand, you're going to have to explore. Go out there past the edge of what you already know, past the comfortable, to a place where you're unsure what your outcome is going to be.

You, in a very real sense, become a gambler. But you will be gambling on the only thing in the universe that's worth the action -- yourself.

It has been said that the real reason for becoming rich and successful is not the money or the fame. It's the joy of being the person you have to become in order to achieve those goals of yours.

Know this: You'll never achieve those goals as you are now.

You really must become a whole different person. A bigger person. A stronger, more capable person.

And how do you do that? You stretch yourself. You make yourself uncomfortable, and you stay that way until you grow into it.

That's the true (and only) price of success.

Home Theater Ideas For Small Rooms

Just because you have a small room does not mean that you can't enjoy the Lord of the Rings Trilogy or any other feature film that is best viewed on the latest in home theater advancements. You can bring all the qualities of the home theater system into a smaller apartment, or even enjoy the full effect in your bedroom, by choosing some home theater options that will fit better in your smaller space.

Start your search for the perfect home theater system in your small room by looking for the right television. Your television should not overwhelm everything else in the room, especially if you are choosing the components for a bedroom. High Definition and wide screen TVs are available in any size now, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a screen that fits nicely into your room.

You might want to consider incorporating a cubby hole for your home theater in your smaller room. This will allow you to actually lessen the floor space that your system takes up, and will not make the room appear any smaller. Another idea is to buy a piece of furniture such as a compact entertainment cabinet, although keep in mind that this will cut down on the amount of space in a room that may already appear crowded. If you want to go this route, a good option is to utilize a cabinet which has a built-in slide drawer for your television, such as the ones used in hotels.

As far as the rest of the system in small rooms, the best bet for a general purpose home theater system is one of the many home theater systems sold in boxes, with all the components included. Look for a set that includes a DVD/CD player and wireless rear speakers, as you will not want a bunch of wires taking up the valuable space in your room. Avoid small satellite speakers, and look for woofers that are over 3" and a 7" or larger subwoofer.<

Advanced home theater users may want to shop for their components separately, and this option will allow for greater flexibility and may help to match up to the décor in your room. Remember to include all the components in your search, and that your main objective is to cut down on the floor space used as much as possible, in both wiring and surface area.

A small room does not mean that you can't enjoy a wide range of experiences that come with a home theater system. A home theater system can be the perfect addition to a bedroom for watching a movie or listening to some music before you go to bed or when you are feeling under the weather. Shopping small will help save some money without taking away from the enjoyment of the overall experience- in fact, smaller rooms can be ideal for complete home theater systems as the sound is used more effectively. The key is not to overwhelm, but to make your audio/visual experience as realistic as possible.

Akses Internet Cepat Memakai DNS Alternatif

DNS kepanjangan Domain Name Server. Fungsi DNS menerjemahkan nama Domain menjadi deretan angka IP.

Mempercepat Akses Internet Menggunakan DNS alternatif

Howard Webb, Other Stars 2010 World Cup Final

Who are the party that defeated the Dutch in World Cup final? Andres Iniesta? Definitely. Iniesta was the one who scored the single goal in the 116th minute to give Spain a 1-0 victory over the Dutch. It is not only Iniesta. Dutch stronghold rate there is still one other person is part of the equation; Howard Webb.

Referee? Yup. British referee judged it to do - at least - four big mistakes that made the Dutch harmed.

Midfielder Wesley Sneijder Webb missed with a violation rate on Mark van Bommel Iniesta. In a scramble the ball on the sidelines, Iniesta collided with Van Bommel, two players who actually had a team in Barcelona. Iniesta slipped and hope tagged as violations. But Webb was not considered. Iniesta then responded by kicking Van Bommel.

"Van Bommel kicks Iniesta although there is no ball. Offisial fourth watch and say 'Yes, I see it'. I think if he saw it, there should be a red card," said Sneijder.

The second incident occurred at minute 82. Arjen Robben Sneijder received feed which then compete hard with defender Carles Puyol. Well, apparently losing Puyol quickly that trying to pull itself Robben although he eventually fell. Robben had time to run but have not had time to kick the ball directly facing the goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Instead of giving punishment Puyol, Webb actually reward Robben yellow card after referee looks angry when pursued by protesting his decision.

"Webb should expel Puyol came out and gave us free shots. In the end we did not benefit from this event. If you play in the World Cup final, you need a world class referee. I do not know whether today's Webb has done his job well," Robben attacks.

The third occurs when Iniesta completed the scoring with bait Cecs Fabregas. Dutch defender, Joris Mathitjen, Iniesta rate in off-side position. Although the replays showed there was Rafael van der Vaart was left behind.

While the last error occurred a few moments before the end of the game. Sneijder free kick on the shoulders of Fabregas. Webb gives a corner rather than for the Dutch, even giving a kick goal for Spain.

Are all decisions adverse Webb Dutch? Actually not really. On the one indisen, Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong is clearly kicking the chest Xabi Alonso though there was no ball. Madrid player was lying on the ground pin because it blows.

Webb was like to be 'other stars' in the final this time. Police from South Yorkshire, England aged 38 years, the total issued 13 yellow cards - eight for the Dutch players and five for Spain - and a red card for Dutch defender John Heitinga. This becomes a record card in the World Cup players who had previously collected in Argentina and West Germany 1986 World Cup when the referee issued a total of six cards.

The octopus paul keep telling

Before the World Cup in 2010, not many people know that an octopus named Paul. But now, who are not familiar with the octopus is able to guess the results of eight games with a sniper?

Paul is a two-year-old octopus who lives in a giant aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany. Some say this creature bertentakel eight are from the UK some are claiming it originated from Italy.

At first, Paul makes predictions for the match which dilakoni German team. Guess he was telling the German managed to hit Australia, the same exact time will tell Der Panzer submission from Serbia.

Paul increasingly evident truths forecast consecutive time he could predict Germany will win from Ghana, ahead of England in perelapanfinal and triumph over Argentina in the quarterfinals.

In the semi-final match, Paul returned fortune. But this time his predictions of Germany will be marginalized in the hands of Spain. The result? Exactly. Philipp Lahm cs aground in the hands of Spain in the last four.

Paul then predict Germany will surpass Uruguay in the struggle for third place. As always, guesses mollusk creature that proved true again because Germany won 3-2.

And for the first time, Paul and then predict the games that do not involve Germany. What he predicted is the World Cup final duel in 2010 between the Netherlands to face Spain with the Spanish won.

It turned out that Paul returned correctly guesses and Spain became the world champion. That is, from eight predictions are made, Paul successfully guessing correctly eight times. Great, Paul!

Incar Kedubes Eropa

Ajang Pembuktian, Siapa Perkasa?

Kami mengerti, perjalanan cukup bagus. Kami harus menikmatinya," tambah Perez lagi. (fuad)

What Causes Global Warming Main?

In the report of the United Nations (FAO), entitled Livestock's Long Shadow: Environmental Issues and Options (Released November 2006), the UN noted that the livestock industry is the producer of greenhouse gas emissions are the largest (18%), this amount more than the combined greenhouse gas glass all transport around the world (13%). Greenhouse gas emissions include livestock industry 9% carbon dioxide, 37% methane gas (warming effect 72 times stronger than CO2), 65% nitrous oxide (warming effect 296 times stronger than CO2), and 64% ammonia causes acid rain. Livestock seized 30% of the entire surface of dry land on Earth and 33% of the arable land area used for growing fodder fields. Livestock also cause 80% of the Amazon forest denudation.

Meanwhile, a report recently released World Watch Institute states that livestock are responsible for at least 51 percent of global warming.
The author, Dr. Robert Goodland, former principal adviser to the environmental field for the World Bank and World Bank research staff Jeff Anhang, making based on "The Long Shadow Ranch", a report published in 2006 by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). They calculate that the previous field and update everything else, including life-cycle emissions of farmed fish production, the CO2 from breathing animal, and correction of actual calculation that produces more than twice the reported number of animals on the planet.

Methane emissions from farm animals also served for 72 times more in absorbing heat in the atmosphere than CO2. This represents an increase that is more accurate than the original calculation of the FAO with the warming potential of 23 times. Nevertheless, the investigators were told that their estimates are minimal, and therefore the total emissions of 51 percent is still conservative. (From various sources).Hopefully Helpful for all..

What is Global Warming ?

How often have you heard that statement came out from the people around you or from yourself? You are not wrong, the existing data did show the planet continues to experience an alarming increase in temperature from year to year. In addition to increasing the heat of the weather around us, you must also recognize the increasing number of natural disasters and natural phenomena tend to be increasingly out of control lately. Ranging from flood, tornado, bursts of gas, up to an erratic rainfall from year to year.

Realize that these are natural signs which indicate that our beloved planet is undergoing the process of damage that leads to destruction! This is directly related to global issues more intense lately discussed by the world community that is Global Warming (Global Warming). Is it global warming? In brief, global warming is increasing the average surface temperature of the earth. The question is: why the earth's surface temperature can be increased?

Global Warming Causes

Research had been done by the experts during the last few decades show that in fact the more the heat of the planet is directly related to greenhouse gases generated by human activities. Especially for the overseeing the causes and effects produced by global warming, the United Nations (UN) formed a research group called the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Every few years, thousands of experts and the world's top researchers who are members of the IPCC held a meeting to discuss recent discoveries related to global warming, and make conclusions from the report and new discoveries are successfully collected, and then make a deal for a solution of the problem. One of the first things they found was that some sort of greenhouse gases is directly responsible for the warming we are experiencing, and the creation of Man is the largest contributor of greenhouse gases such. Most of these greenhouse gases produced by livestock, the burning of fossil fuels in motor vehicles, modern factories, farms, and power plant.

What is a Greenhouse Gas?

Earth's atmosphere consists of various gases with different functions. Groups that maintain the temperature of the gas to keep warm the earth's surface known as "greenhouse gases". Called greenhouse gases because the system is working gases in the earth's atmosphere is similar to the workings of the greenhouse that serves the sweltering heat of the sun in it so that the temperature inside the greenhouse remains warm, with plants in it so will be able to grow well because it has a heat enough sun. Our planet is basically required proficiency level in these gases to keep the life in it. Without the presence of greenhouse gases, Earth would be too cold to live in the absence of an isolating layer of the sun's heat. For comparison, the planet Mars has a thin layer of the atmosphere and do not have the greenhouse effect has an average temperature of-32o Celsius.

The biggest contributor to global warming today is Carbon Dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) produced agriculture and livestock (mainly from the digestive systems of animals), Nitrogen Oxide (NO) from fertilizers, and the gases used in refrigerators and air conditioning (CFC). Destruction of forests that should serve as storage of CO2 is also increasingly exacerbate this situation because the dead trees will release the stored CO2 into the atmosphere within the network. Each greenhouse gas has a global warming effect berbedabeda. Some of the gas heating effect is more severe than CO2. As an example of a molecule of methane produces 23 times the warming effect of CO2 molecules. NO molecules to produce even heating up to 300 times the effect of CO2 molecules. Other gases such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) have a warming effect of CO2 up to a thousand times. But fortunately the use of CFCs has been banned in many countries because CFCs have long been blamed for damaging the ozone layer. (From various sources).

Electricity Saving Tips On AC Unit

Use air conditioning or AC (Air Conditioner) in the household has a need for 'primary' for some of our communities. Especially for those living in areas with a fairly hot temperature. In addition to ensuring comfort, the AC can serve also as an air purifier at home. However, with the electric power needs of large, knowledge about the inadequate air-conditioning would likely add a fairly high electric bills at the end of the month.
Can even be more complicated when we have to go back and forth menservice air conditioning at home because it is often ngadat. If you already like this, not convenience that we get, but that added problem.
The following are simple tips that we can practice when we were going to buy air conditioners, or when using the AC and AC self care:

1. Buy air conditioning or air conditioner equipped with a converter. The function of the converter is a regulator of the electricity load. This means that when the temperature in the room has reached the temperature we want, the AC will reduce the cooling load itself automatically granted, to remain operational. Conventional air conditioner is not equipped with a converter. On-off control system, which means he will stop operating when the temperature has been reached, and operating again when the temperature has gone up to a certain point. Remember, the biggest AC electrical power required at start. So, when we are often conditioned on and off the electricity required would be greater.

2. Choose the air conditioner cooling capacity according to need. Avoid choosing too small air conditioner with a capacity or over capacity.

3. Ensure that space to be fitted with air-conditioning was shut tight. Prevent possible heat from the outside came into the room, which can increase the workload of the air conditioner.

4. Discipline is not to smoke in indoor air-conditioned. Besides the heat issue, cigarette smoke also cause our air conditioner broken.

5. Adjust the temperature setting wisely. We certainly do not need to turn the air conditioner setting 18oC. Besides not good for health, setting too low (cold) also forced the AC work harder.
6. Turn off the AC when the room is not used in a relatively long time.
7. Keep always cleanliness room, especially from dust.
8. Clean the air filter in, at least once a week.
9. Treat AC periodically, in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturer AC. AC electric power prime condition requiring smaller.
10. Encourage and teach all family members to use the air conditioner wisely.
Hopefully Helpful for all.

Flood Impacts and Causes

Flood is in a state where a region inundated by water in amounts so large. While floods are floods that come all of a sudden the river caused by the blockage or because of pengundulan forests along the river so damaging homes and causing casualties.

Floods almost every rainy season in Indonesia. Based on the value of losses and frequency of flood events shows that there is significant improvement. Occurrence of flood disasters is highly influenced by natural factors such as above normal rainfall and the presence of tidal sea water. Besides man-made factors also play an important role, such as inappropriate land use (residential areas along the river, the catchment areas, deforestation, etc.), disposal of garbage into the river, construction of settlements in the flood plain area and so forth.

Identify Causes Flood

• High rainfall
• Surface soil was lower than sea level.
• Located in a basin surrounded by hills with narrow keiuar water jetting.
• Many settlements are built on the plains along the rivers.
• river flow is not smooth due to the many garbage and building on the riverside.
• Lack of land cover in the headwaters area.

Actions To Reduce Flood Impacts

• Structuring an integrated watershed and appropriate land use.
• Development of monitoring and early warning system on the part of the river which often cause flooding.
• Not to build houses and settlements along the river and flooded areas.
• Do not throw garbage into the rivers. Entered the river dredging program.
• Installation of pumps to lower area of the sea surface.
• greening program headwaters of the river should always be carried out and to reduce activity in the flood-prone river.

What to Do When Flood

• Turn off the electricity in the house or contact the officer to turn off electrical power in areas hit by disaster,
• evacuate to a safe area as early as possible while still allowing water to cross.
• Avoid running near channel water to avoid floods swept. Immediately secure the valuables place higher.
• If the water kept rising contact related agencies for disaster management such as Head Office Village, Village Chief or Head.
What to Do After the Flood
• Immediately clean the house, where the floor is generally covered with mud and use an antiseptic to kill germs.
• Locate and prepare clean water to avoid outbreaks of diarrhea that is often contagious diseases after flood events.
• Be aware of the possibility of poisonous animals like snakes and centipedes, or animal diseases spreading like rats, cockroaches, flies, and mosquitoes.
• Try to always be alert when the possibility of subsequent flooding.
